Our children deserve the best education we can give them. Many are getting a great education, thanks to their dedicated teachers and principals – but too many are not. Join the BRIGHT team to lift up our students, their families and our state.
Education is the noblest work there is – but it’s hard work and not for everyone. Being a principal, especially in a high-poverty school, is a “24-7" job. BRIGHT will get you ready for the toughest job you’ll ever love.
We’ve set the bar high to be selected as a BRIGHT Fellow, just as you will set the bar high for the teachers and students you will lead. We all believe in human potential — and there is no greater good than helping others set goals beyond what they believe they can achieve.
You are already a first-rate educator changing lives one student at a time inside the classroom. Or you're supporting teachers as a school or district administrator. You may have entered teaching in an alternative setting such as Teach for America or a charter school, or you serve on a local school board.
You know how high-performance organizations work through your management experience and customer service skills in banking, insurance, retail, hospitality, healthcare, management consulting, law and other professions.
You do your "day job" exceptionally well – but the best part of your day is the board or committee work you do at night for United Way or the time you spend mentoring at-risk youth as a Big Brother or Big Sister. You already live your life as a servant leader. Now you simply wish to do it as your full-time job.
You know what it is to have a purpose larger than yourself. And you know what great leadership looks like. You are a lieutenant ready to retire from the military, a member of the Ohio National Guard, an engineer at Wright Patterson AFB, or an ROTC grad exploring career opportunities.
You are a dedicated and selfless public servant at the federal, state or local level with a passion for social and education policy, for closing achievement gaps and eradicating poverty. You know that education is the great equalizer – and you're restless to work directly in helping kids.
Above all, we are looking for proven leaders with uncompromising ethical standards, a deep belief in the potential of all children to succeed and the personal passion to help them achieve a brighter future.
